Makgadikgadi National Park

The Makgadikgadi Pan Game Reserve is a salt pan with an area of ca. 3 900 km². It is one of the largest salt flats in the world. The pan is all that remains of the formerly enormous Lake Makgadikgadi. During the dry winter month you will be able to see the second largest zebra migration in the world. More than 25.000 zebras migrate to the Boteti River. Wildlife in the park includes eland, lions, zebras, cheetah, oryx, springbok, red hartebeest, bushbuck, giraffe, steenbok, elephants and many more. Animals are dependent on the Boteti River for their daily sustenance. It is therefore the perfect place for game viewing. Enjoy a light lunch and some refreshments en route while watching the wildlife around you.

The size of this National Park is approx. 2 600 km² and is one of the salt lakes from the Makgadikgadi. Many herbivores like zebras, springboks, elephants, wildebeests and giraffes can cross the path in Nxai Pan. Due to the number of game, predators can be observed in this area as well. One highlight of the Park is the historical "Baines Baobabs", a group of seven trees which are famous as the “seven sisters” or the “sleeping sisters”. The painter and explorer Thomas Baines created a remarkable painting in 1862 of this baobab group. You explore Nxai Pan National Park in an open 4x4 safari vehicle and enjoy a light lunch and some refreshments en route.
